The sound environment by TAMTAM (Sam Auinger / Hannes Strobl) is created in the interaction of the specific architecture of the Galerie Nord „with all the sound events taking place in it“, as well as the ambient noises penetrating into the interior from outside. From these colors (characteristics) the musical language of the composition, the sound material and the composition strategy develop. Again and again they enter into dialogue with the acoustic events on site. Parts of the sound material were recorded on site, pre-produced items were tuned on site and the composition was created in the space. The sound environment becomes an instrument and the instrument becomes a sound environment.
