His informers: Elektra, a white drag queen a happily married unemployed philologist and Joan Bayou, an Indian university lecturer, who is a Berdache – a woman in the body of a man. Three figures who’s gender and cultural identities cannot be assigned to any one place. Their three parallel-running narrative threads take place in the fictitious city of New Leyden.
